As a deranged Drake fan in a world full of them, I took his paranoid songs about industry enemies plotting to take him down to heart. With press access to the 2016 NBA All-Star game where Drake received the key to the city of Toronto (the ‘most important moment of his life’, in his words), it fell to me to protect the pop icon from perceived threats large and small — from Kevin Durant to Kevin Hart — in a comedic report from Air Canada Centre.
